Kenny Perry parred the 18th hole and ended the day at -7 for an overall total of -22 to win the championship by three strokes over David Toms and Paul Goydos. It was a record day for Perry who ended up with a four-round total of 258 (61-68-66-63), breaking the tournament total of 259 set by Tim Norris in 1982 when the tournament was held at Wethersfield Country Club.
Perry's first round 61 also tied the course record.
