The Leaders Have Teed Off
Fredrik Jacobson and Bryce Molder have just teed off on the first hole. Just three days ago it seemed we would need Monday to finish this tournament. Now we should be done by 6 p.m.
Have heard a couple of interesting things so far today. When I told a Travelers volunteer that it would be a great story if amateur Patrick Cantlay were to win the tournament, he didn't seem to agree. He told me that on Saturday morning when a small child approached Cantlay for an autograph near the practice range, Cantlay responded, "I'm busy. I'm in a tournament here."
Nick Watney was nearby and went over to the kid and gave him an autograph. I always knew I loved Heidi Watney.
Also, after Bubba Watson's disappointing (at least for a defending champion) final score of 9-under, he met with the media. Although clearly not happy with his performance this weekend, Watson let his sense of humor shine through. When CTGolfer.com's Bruce Berlet asked Watson to sign a hat for his grandson, Bubba replied, "So, make it out to you?"
