Thursday's opening round
It's early but as of 11:30 a.m. there was a four-way tie for first.
Ricky Barnes, who finished second at the recent U.S. Open, Brian Gay and John Merrick and Greg Chalmers were tied for the lead at 5-under. Chalmers was through 17 holes, Barnes was through 15 holes, Gay was through his 11th and Merrick was through 12.
After the four leaders there was a nine-way tie for fifth.
